Cats are typically known for being the more quiet pick of pet when compared with dogs, but anyone with a talkative cat will tell you – it’s hard to shut them up once they’ve began chatting. Some cats simply love the sound in their own voice, while others like to talk to their owners for reassurance. Nevertheless, it seems that cats only ever often say the single word “meow” or some variation of it, which could mean anything from “Feed me!” to “Your hair seems stupid today, hoomin.”
In Japan, cats do’t meow, they say nya or nyan and this new kitten advertisement from mobile firm au attempts to depict a “realistic” feline dialog, with pretty adorable results.
Although some are merely too busy scoffing sardines to bring much to the conversation, some of the kittens need somewhat convincing to come around to the thought!
The constant repetition of ‘nya‘ in this commercial got a little grating although the mimicking of Japanese intonation is quite spot on as adorable as the kitties are. It’s got us wondering what a kitten conversation would sound like in different nations.
